Gas-phase photodissociation of CFCl2NO at 147 nm results in the formation of electronically excited NO in the B2Π state, giving rise to the well known NO β-emission bands. Collisional effects consequent upon the addition of helium lead to the appearance of fluorescence from the NO(A2∑+) state with emission from the ν′= 2 and 3 levels dominating the spectrum. The results are compared with data obtained previously for other nitrosocompounds.
