Complex sedimentary basin sites may amplify the seismic waves significantly; meanwhile the sedimentary environment influences the basin sites seriously. This paper retrospects the methods used to study the basin effect, which is a kind of typical site effects; emphatically introduces finite- difference method, finite element method and multi-transmitting formula that are wildly used in recent years; reviews the modeling methods used in 3-D numerical simulation and the results of basin effect simulations recently; introduces the simulation of sedimentary fill of basins based on sedimentary environment and studies of the influence of sedimentary environment on sediment physical parameters. Finally the paper puts forward research thinking: improving simulate precision by diminishing model size and considering the influence of sedimentary environment in basin site modeling.

In order to improve the processing efficiency and precision of primary interpretation for IP sounding data, this paper puts forward the method of pseudo-2D inversion interpretation for IP sounding data using 1D automatic iterative inversion method which is different from former automatic interpretation methods for IP sounding. The main trait of this method is that it isn't necessary to input initial model parameters artificially before inversion.Namely it uses the number of observed apparent resistivity curve digitized with a sampling interval(e.g.lg10/6) as that of model layers and it remains unchanged during the iterative inversion course. The layered thickness of starting model is equal to the difference of digitized electrode spacing. The layered resistivity of starting model equals the apparent resistivity of discrete electrical sounding curve. So it is ready for the 1D automatic iterative inversion of many sounding curves using damping least square method. We may draw the figure of pseudosection of inversion result and carry out the geologic interpretation for it.Finally,it tests the effect of inversion for model data and shows that its processing speed is fast and interpretation is simple,so it is acceptable as primary inversion interpretation of IP sounding data.

Aim To determine the Mesozoic northwestern boundary of Junggar Basin. Methods Through the northwestern margin of Junggar Basin Zaire Hill-Halaalate Hill both sides of the sedimentary basin sedimentary characteristics, sedimentary filling process and Paleo-current restoration studies. Results Northwestern margin of Junggar Basin since the Mesozoic,in Zaire Hill-Halaalate Hill both sides of the basin have different sedimentary characteristics, sedimentary filling process and the ancient Paleo-current patterns, and Heshituoluogai basin has an independent sedimentary system and the Paleo-current patterns. Conclusion Early Mesozoic northwestern Junggar basin is located at the border of Zaire Hill-Halaalate Hill and Heshituoluogai basin is an independent fault basin which developed in the Paleozoic fold above basal at the Triassic-Middle Jurassic.Since the Cretaceous period,Heshituoluogai basin and Junggar Basin have covered together into a unified development of depression basin, the basin boundary is located on the north side of the Heshituoluogai basin.

In recent years, the study of the evolution of sedimentary basins is increasingly focusing on the role of deep fluids, whose interaction with the rocks of the sedimentary cover is an essential mechanism for lithogenesis [1]. The Caspian sedimentary Basin is the largest modern continental sedimentary basin. This paper aims at presenting the calculated mass ratios of rock, ground water, and physically bound water for the different tectonic structures of the Caspian sedimentary Basin.

A total of twenty nine DC resistivity and several EM soundings were carried out along four
soundings profiles around river Owena, the area falls within the Basement Complex region predominant
in South Western Nigeria and is marked out for the construction of a multipurpose dam. The 1D
inversion of the sounding data, although satisfactory, revealed some complex, unresolved
geological/geometrical structures at some sounding stations. In light of this, the same data set was
reinterpreted using a 2D Inversion Scheme based on a modified form of the finite element method was
used to obtain a clearer image of the resistivity structure and geometry of the Owena river area, the
results obtained reveled sudden departures in the subsurface geometry between some sounding stations
and also between the profiles. The results presents a more clearer picture of the structure of the location
and compared with the inferred interpretation from 1D inversion reiterates the importance of carrying
out 2D inversion rather than the more common 1D inversion, the 2D inversion scheme used also makes
the inversion process less computationally expensive.

In order to reveal the change characteristics of low-air temperature inversion in Zhangjiakou City, the ground temperature inversion, heights of bottom and peak of untouched temperature inversion and temperature, getting from the original daily sounding records in Zhangjiakou Meteorological Station from 2001to 2012,were analyzed. The results show that there was an steady low-air temperature inversion over Zhangjiakou City all the year round. Temperature inversion of the highest frequency of 58. 6% appeared in winter and that of minimum of 16. 5% in summer. The Fall had the strongest inversion intensity with an average of 1. 05℃/100m and the summer had the weakest for 0. 74℃ /100m. The ground inversion for 07: 00,with an average thickness of432. 7m was the thickest. The heights of untouched inversion bottom and inversion peak were 1052. 9m and1418. 7m respectively. The terrain and weather should be the main causes for the formation of temperature inversion in Zhangjiakou City.

The results of 3D inversion are analytically compared with the results of applying 2D inversion program to conducting inversion of 3D geological bodies in DC resistivity sounding. The methods for modeling and confirmation of prior information are compared, followed by a comparative analysis of several inversion examples of typical models. In 2D inversion, the precision of location, shape and resistivity is relatively low in that only single section information is taken into consideration. The results of 3D inversion are in good accord with the practical models because such an inversion has synthesized the information of several sections.
