S015 THE STRUCTURAL & TECTONIC EVOLUTION OF THE BERKINE-GHADAMES BASIN Anadarko has been successfully exploring in the Berkine Basin of Algeria for more than a decade and has access to an extensive seismic and well database including 4000 km 2 of contiguous 3d seismic coverage 12 000 Km of 2d seismic and over four hundred wells. The seismic data volumes and associated coherency time slices have been interpreted and integrated with the well data to better understand the structural history and stratigraphic development of the basin. B07 TECTONICS AND SUBSIDENCE EVOLUTION OF THE SIRT BASIN LIBYA Abstract and Introduction 1 Backstripping analysis of 225 wells located within the Sirt Basin (Fig. 1) provide new constraints on the Sirt Basin development. Four coherent tectonic phases from Late Jurassic to present. The presentation of contour maps of subsidence and crustal stretching allows to visualize spatial and temporal stretching migration. A close match is observed with stretching phases documented for other African Basins consistent with discrete phases in the opening of the Tethys and Atlantic. Rifting and reactivation appears to be primarily controlled by the orientation of the basin

Tectonic-thermal evolution research is the key to basin analysis. Both the tectonic-thermal evolution technology and the present situation and problems of the tectonic-thermal evolution research in the South Yellow Sea Basin are summarized in this paper. The future tectonic-thermal research in the South Yellow Sea Basin mainly include:establishment of appropriate numerical thermo-mechanical model and its corresponding modeling technique of the South Yellow Sea Basin;Study of hydrocarbon generation stages based on advanced tectonic-thermal research results, and comparison of the South Yellow Sea Basin with the Northern Jiangsu Basin.

The magmation was related with area tectonics intimately, the period and spatial distribution of magmation in East China were summarized, then analyze the significance and the characteristics of Mesozoic-Cenozoic magmation in Jiyang Depression and its surrounding tectonics were analyzed, including lithosphere, tectonic transition, and generation mechanism of Bohai Bay. The result of study is of positive significance to recognize the evolution of deep structure and genesis in Jiyang Depression.

By investigating the main Mesozoic basins on the western periphery of the Songliao Basin, the authors redivided the Mesozoic strata in Longjiang basin and reinterpreted the meaning of Ganhe Formation. In Tuquan basin,Fujiawazi Formation is disintegrated into Fujiawazi Formation,Manketouebo Formation and Manitu Formation. The Mesozoic strata in Zhalute basin are redivided and, especially,a part of Paleozoic Dashizhai Formation is assigned to Tamulangou Formation and Manitu Formation according to isotopic dating results. The lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy and and chronolithologic units in the main Mesozoic basins on the periphery of Songliao Basin were studied, which included Longjiang basin,Tuquan basin,Zhalute basin and Wulangai basin. The regional stratigraphic column and stratigraphic framework of the main basins were established for potential oil and gas prospective areas.

Summary .—(1) The reptiles Gordonia, Geikia , and Elginia are shown to be slightly later than those of the Upper Permian Pariasaurus beds of Russia, or those of the equivalent Cisticephalus zone of South Africa. They therefore represent the extreme top of the Permian. (2) The remaining Elgin reptiles are Middle Triassic (? = Lettenkohle of Germany). (3) The Elgin footprints are widely distinct from Triassic forms and from those of the Lower Permian, while agreeing exactly with the group associated with the Magnesian Limestone of England. They therefore represent the extreme top of the Permian. (4) The discovery is recorded of one of the typical footprints in close proximity with the Permian reptile quarry. (5) The Permian rocks occupy the west of the ‘Triassic’ area, the true Trias the east. (6) It is suggested that the area was a landsurface during Permian and Triassic times.
